NEW POST: Yesterday we teased a series of the work-in-progress pieces for Holly “@alittlestranger” Stanway’s @heycavey Third Birthday Party group custom show, in which a bevy of talented customizers tackle the fantastic vinyl version of the iconic design. Pictured above is Leecifer’s contribution, completed, entitled “To the Batcave, Bat@heycavey!” — a lovely homage to the comic book character complete with cape! Then there are two more WIPs to show off: the clean line work of RunDMB (below left) and the immaculately sculpted Owlface @heycavey from Lady Lauren Loves (below right). So far, this is turning out to be one amazing looking show!

NEW POST: LauraLorén’s work usually has such a nice, organic flow to it that I’m not sure how I feel about her incorporating fake plastic trees (and deer) into her newest custom creation. Entitled “May,” this piece was presumably made for the “In Your Face!” urban art gallery show in Augsburg, Germany from April 25th-28th, 2013. Obviously more a nature-oriented theme will be dominant in this piece, I’ll certainly reserve judgement until we receive the entire reveal in a couple of days… http://dlvr.it/3F3xJK

NEW POST: We have been posting up an images HERE, HERE, and HERE of the brand new ‘Toytem’ that artist @GaryGepetto is working on, and now we get to see the fourth installment of this soon to be completed design, Lulubell Toys “Oni” mascot… and how perfect does he look… LOVE IT! This is cel-vinyl painted on a wood base that Gary made from scratch and as you can see Gary took some serious time painting the lines on this figure… and talk about a term of endearment when you state “What are you looking at, four-eyes”?!?! I wonder if this is going to stay wood, or will we see a second interchangeable vinyl run?!?! So much is up in the air right now, but so much is looking soooooo good as well! NEW POST: It appears the winner of last year’s Designer Toy Award for Fan Favorite, the resin cast WolfGirl, is coming full circle back to being self-produced. If I understand the timeline correctly, Shea “FrankenFactory” Brittain debuted the figure in 2011 as something she self-cast and painted but then, in 2012, a new version was released that Brittain had sculpted but was actually being cast by Mana Studios (though still hand-painted by Brittain). She has been teasing pictures of these fantastic looking WolfGirls made using Monster Kolor’s resin dyes and those certainly look like the dyes in the background of some of the snaps… so I’m guessing Brittain decided to return to hand-casting the figures! What does this mean? Well, we’ll probably be seeing a lot more one-off colorways hitting her online shop in the near future…

NEW POST: Holly “@alittlestranger” Stanway must be absolutely ecstatic, as her artistic child — @heycavey — prepares to leave the ‘terrible twos’ and turn a full three years old! Oh, how time flies… And to celebrate this monumentous event, Stanway has put together a magical birthday party filled with tons of presents for everyone. And, by presents, I mean custom versions of the vinyl @heycavey figure customized by some completely top tier talent! Which, of course, we’ve been lucky enough to sneak some work-in-progress teasers of to whet your appetite!
Walter “Chauskoskis” Jacott has given @heycavey quite the big head… but considering how @heycavey continues to take the world by storm, it might be justly deserved. Jacott’s cool and clean style is all over this custom with the absolutely wonderful touch of having the @heycavey tag peaking out from inside the closed mouth. The devil is in the details, as they say!
While Jacott embraced the concept of disturbing cuteness, @Jay222toy’s contribution defines it! I mean, @heycavey dressed up as Freddy Krueger from the _A Nightmare on Elm Street_ films with a touch of Hello Kitty thrown in for fun?!? After seeing @Jay222toy’s magical rendition of this implausible concept, I can only answer with: “Yes, please!” An absolute show stealer!
And just when you think things couldn’t get any weirder (or beautifully crafted), the incredibly talented Squink comes along with the idea of little @heycaveys pouring forth from the tiny vinyl figure… And perhaps it’s just the unpainted aspect that makes it more disturbing, but it almost looks like the cutest damn fungal infection you’ll ever see!
But leave it to @GaryGepetto (above left) to reel it back in for us, providing the absolutely adorable situation of what appears to be a @heycavey in a @heycavey style craft going through a @heycavey shaped ‘Tunnel of Love,’ the latter two elements meticulously crafted out of wood. Though, alas, we only have one final sneak to show off: a beautifully sad looking creation by LozBoz (aka Haus of Boz). Sporting a unicorn horn, this little @heycavey has the saddest little face…

NEW POST: I guess it’s true: there is no rest for the wicked. Of course, I never imagined considering Richard “@umetoys” Page as one of the wicked… until I learned that he’d been immersed in sculpting his newest prototype for the last week and it was of a severed, shrunken head! But even with this grisly topic, Page someone manages to craft something that is not only perfect but also perfectly adorable. And I adore how the stitched up mouth and eyes seems to have the thread playing gleefully over smiling elements… And if you want one of these beautiful baddies, which are named “Suki,” then you might want to attend the 1st Cardiff Tattoo & Toy Con on July 20th-21st, 2013… since “Suki,” or at least the initial release of her, will be exclusive to the event!

NEW POST: Spotted by Chamucos Studio at the recent @ToyArtGallery’s “Creature Feature” opening, we are treated to this face on shot of the “Toxigon” by Richard “LASH” Montanari of Mutant Vinyl Hardcore. While this sculpted prototype still has some time before it is released in sofubi, we can’t wait to see the finished result as it sounds like this thing will be articulated to the gills: two points at the neck, each arm, each foot, and God knows what else! First to be revealed was Gary’s awesome rendition of @dragatomi’s Mascot HERE, and today we are stoked to show off our very own “Stroll” mascot… and oh how cool he is! This is cel-vinyl painted on a wood base that Gary made from scratch turned out quite awesome. Gary had asked what we thought about it… and at the time the blue eye wasn’t really in our color pallet… but gotta say, it’s growing on us! NEW POST: Spotted at ToyConUK, we have one of Taylored Curiosities’s iconic felt leafy stems emerging from an angularly sharp resin creation… which could only be the work of Chris “alto” Dobson. Yes, this was a revealed teaser of an upcoming collaborative release between the two! This mini series consists of six paired pieces, the 2.5-inch tall female (H) and the 2.8-inch tall male (X). NEW POST: The wonderful boys from Triclops Studio continue to expand their B.A.S.T.A.R.D. (Bootleg Army Stuck Together And Randomly Designed) series with a dozen new characters for ToyConUK! Pictured above is a blurry sneak peak at these right bastard pieces, but the good news doesn’t end there… as hinted at with yesterday’s “Elephant Graveyard” teaser, Triclops have also formed a partnership with @togetherplus Industries to create the B.A.S.T.A.R.D. Universe line! According to Triclops, this new line is “essentially a 3-way collab between a mate/artist we like & respect, @togetherplus Industries & us,” but the pieces will be in a “completely different scale to the minis (it’s WAY bigger!), but it’s roots are based in retro mini figures.” The full reveal of all is forthcoming… Damn, it’s going to be one B.A.S.T.A.R.D. of a year! http://dlvr.it/39p3WT
